slow beauty// weekly full body salt scrub
Exfoliating is not only beneficial for sloughing dry, flaky skin but it’s also great to boost lymph drainage and circulation. Once a week, we like to set aside some time for a deep exfoliation to increase radiance and get our blood circulating. Fortunately, salt scrubs could not be easier to make and there are countless variations depending on your mood! Our basic recipe is below, but we encourage you to change up oils, herbs, and even the salts to suit your skin and mood.
Follow up with a cold shower to really get your circulation going!
Makes enough for 1-2 applications
- ½ lb Just Himalayan Sea Salt Fine Grain
- ½ lb Just HImalayan Sea Salt Coarse Grain
- 4-8 oz Just Fractionated Coconut Oil (add more oil for a wetter scrub)
- 1/4c of Rose Petals, powdered in a spice grinder (can sub other herbs or clays!)
- 15-20 drops Essential Oils of choice (optional)
- Large bowl
- Spoon for stirring
- Container(s) with a lid (plastic lid is best)
- Spice Grinder (if needed-optional)
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Mix together with a spoon until the dry and wet ingredients are thoroughly blended and the salt is no longer dry in areas. If you wish to have a “wetter” or more oily scrub, add more coconut oil, an ounce at a time. Once your mix is fully saturated to your liking, transfer to your container of choice and store the scrub with its lid on until ready to use!
When exfoliating, start at your feet and work your way up. Apply a handful of scrub at a time, working in a small circular motion. It may be helpful to stand in the bathtub as this can be quite a messy process. Also, be careful as the oil will make your shower or tub slick.
Repeat weekly as a part of your self care routine.
Make Good Tip: This scrub is so fun to customize. Add different essential oils for a different scent, or add in clays for color and their drawing properties. Switch up the herbs or even experiment with seaweed. The options are endless.
